The 1st “Why do we image ? ” imaging workshop was quite unique in its own way . Since it had a rather open framework we started discussing on what imaging & photography meant to each one of us .. Nice thoughts and ideas came from the participants. Later we moved on to analyse the instagram pictures of the participants and understand their imaging sensibilities and approach . Discuss about their pictures and delve into “ How and Why of their images “ and visual narratives . Other interesting aspects that were discussed in these sessions were the key differences to a Photographic and Cinematic viewpoint while taking pictures and how to go about them . How to address Artist Dilemma as to whether the picture should satisfy the photographer or person whom you are photographing.. Overall I felt It was an interesting experience for all of us..

This was a different experience compared to other photography sessions. The session helped us rediscover the purpose of why do we image. The insights given by Narayan sir was very inspiring. The session was mainly interaction oriented between the participants, and we were able to learn from everyone.

“Why Do we image?” was a very enlightening and engaging workshop which pushed me understand the thought process and the motivation behind images. I was able to analyse my own images and at the same time see other people's works and their thought process before capturing a photograph or even a film. It also helped me to look deeper into the craft and look beyond what i am currently doing.

During the session, I got a chance to look at some talented photographers who spoke about their perception and reasons for imaging. It was a unique forum where thoughts were exchanged and collective learning was brought about by Mr. Narayan. It is always fun to talk to like minded people, yet find contrasting ideas to help us realise that this idiosyncratic way of thinking is the basic of human distinction.
